Bunratty Castle
Bunratty Castle is in existence since 1250. It can trace its routes to Norman origins and is steeped in Irish history. The structure which currently sits in Bunratty was built in 1425. Over the years it has been home to some of Munster’s most famous families the McNamaras and the O’Briens and its lands were also granted to Plantation families over the years.
In 1945 a large scale refurbishment programme began to restore Bunratty Castle and make it the national monument it is today.
